Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me if the clutch is hydraulic on a version 2 sti? Are all models the same setup or are some cable? Any help greatly appreciated.

All Impreza's are hydraulic. Take intercooler off. Observe master cyl./pipe/slave cyl etc...

If that's the case, do you think it's possible that it could need bled rather than a new clutch? It's slipping when boost kicks in.

 

if your clutch is slipping it is u/s.the operation of working the clutch( cable/hyd) has nothing to do with the clamping force on to the flywheel.if it was needing bleed,it would not be clearing the flywheel,causing the gears to crash.

there's a very active group around the Inverurie area (I know it's many miles away!), but they quite often meet up, go for drives etc,

Jools Coghill is the SIDC regional rep for the area, and you can contact him on jcoghill@lineone.net to sort out arrangements etc.

Would be great to have some of the more northern guys (we have one from north of Inverness who regularly attends events) come along to some of the Aberdeen and rest of Scotland events.

Not all Impezas have hydralic clutches, not sure when they changed but the early ones were cable.
Simple check is under the bonnet you will have a fluid resevoir for a hydralic clutch as well as the brake one.
The only reason clutch adjustment would cure slip is if there is no free play at the pedal, it should move 5-15mm before operating the clutch.

FRom 92 onwards all turbos and wrxs had hydr clutch you deffo need to replace if its slipping bud..
