Just bought and fitted a secondhand one to my MY00. Can someone who has, or had, one confirm that the body of the DV when bolted to the intercooler is free to move clockwise/anticlockwise or should it be solid as per the OEM DV.

Many thanks

The dump valve body should not rotate. If it does then it isn't secured properly to the flange. If you remove the dump valve you will notice a "ring" recessed into the flange with two little holes in it; this holds the body to the flange and will need tightening. Since it needs a special tool to tighten, the simplest solution is to rotate both the body and the ring counter-clockwise then holding the ring with one thumb, rotate the body clockwise to lock it up again. It may take a few attempts to get it just right. In theory it'de need to be pretty darn loose to start leaking, but the fact that it is loose at all needs addressing... can't remember exact aperture sizes but worst case scenario the ring could come away from the valve and make its way into the engine (rather unlikely, I admit, but better safe than sorry).

Cheers,

Pat.

Spooky.. was just going to reply with a photo for you !

You can see that there's a small gap where the mounting plate joins the main body of the DV. This enables the body to rotate quite freely (obviously without the pipes connected)
