Unhappy

Left work to night to find that for the second time in just three months I have a busted wing mirror. Just swings around like a particularly limp limping thing
First time was the Drivers side and I assumed someone had clipped it, either a passing car or kid on a bike or something, ah well almost 200 quid and a new one fitted looks the business. This time it was the Passenger side but I had folded it in this morning so this couldn't happen! The only way it could have happened is if someone pulled it out, broke it and folded it back in.
My question is......are the fixings of the mirror to the door so poor that simply by folding the mirror in I could have broken it. I always folded them in on my RB5 but rarely on the STI.

Second question, as I dont fancy replacing these twice a year.
Is there anyone who sells mirrors that fit the My02 STI that retains the electric adjustment, not so worried about loosing the heating? Maybe time for the Carbon WRC Look.

Thanks
Andy

Sounds to me like somebody is doing it on purpose.
Have you p**sed somebody off recently, are you parked outside somebodys house blocking thier view, parked on the kids route to school (they kick em off for bets) etc.
Could be a number of reasons.
Try a different parking place and your problems could just disapear.

This is a known problem and if its a UK car your dealer will replace under warranty. The retaining washer on the top of the spindle the mirror pivots on comes off and you end up with the floppy-ear look. My STI drivers side mirror went, but was replaced FOC the next day.

You should not have to pay for a new mirror.
