I am considering have a Scoobysport downpipe fitted and have previously been put off by the reported increase in volume that they bring (the missus complaining and all that).
However, since Hayward and Scott made a quieter Scoobysport backbox for me, and my other half says she is getting used to the throaty rasp (no jokes about genital warts please) I am thinking of pushing the borders further.
The only question I have now is what happens at MOT time?
My car is an STi4 so it has 2 CAT's and would mean that the centre one would still be in place, but is this enough to pass emissions?
Any advice on noise levels and emissions would be great.

Hi Neil

Most STi4's have no centre CATS.
Only very early models during the year of production do. Apparantly there is no way of checking other than take the centre pipe off & look down it because the CAT "bulge" is there even if the CAT isn't !!

This of course means that a downpipe will remove the only CAT therefore emission tests will probably fail.

I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong.

Find a friendly MOT centre who will pass it if it only fails on emissions (mine did !!)

Good Luck !

Ro.

Is this test centre anywhere near Hornchurch, Essex by any chance?
If it is could you e-mail me with the name and address of it?

Sorry - no where near !!
I lived at my brothers house down in Cornwall for a year a while ago - had it done there - they MOT'd all his cars for years so they were really co-operative.
It was on my last UK car that had centre cat removed & downpipe on.....

Sorry.

Maybe anyone else could help - trouble is you never know who is listening....!!
