What's the legality of using a speedo in KPH in the UK?

I do not have MPH on it at all and before you say convert it I don't actually want to. I have always used KPH and the calculation to MPH takes a fraction of a second anyway so it isn't a safety issue for me when driving.

Just wondering what the MOT status is.

Also, out of interest do I need a GB sticker on the car or number plate if I go to the Republic of Ireland?

My lancia has it's speedo in KPH and passes the MOT ok. The MOT tester was a bit funny about it but passed it. I guess it must be legal then? I always know what the speeds work out to in mph anyway.

I just prefer my speedo going up to 300kph instead of 180mph.

What? the tester has to go IN the car?? neverr happened to me...

 

My scooby passed the MOT and the speedo only read KPH (no MPH numbers at all on the speedo) so they don't check for it.

I was getting out of my car a while ago when a neighbours young lad ran up and asked how fast my car went. I showed him the speedo and said it'll do 300mph and the look on his face was sooo funny
