Making a 2001 Bug drive like a 2000 WRX
Is it possible to modify the bug eyed 2001 version of the WRX so its performance is similar to the older model? I test drove both and the turbo especially was much more fun in the older car, it sounded so much nicer too. Is there a different chip you can fit to alter the characteristics of the turbo or are you stuck with it?
Full exhaust system, ecutek and you are near 300bhp, shell is stiffer so no need for strut bars, get a decent set of coil overs and brakes and there you are............
Of course you could go further change the lights to morrettes or UK300's, add HID's, put on rear lights, bigger spoiler, 18" wheels and you'd be happy, errr very happy.
And whilst you may feel the car is still ugly, you can't see that when you drive!!!

I put a scoobysport back box and mid section on(1 less cat, 1 less silencer) - it sounds the biz and every one says so! It has also gained that little bit more urgency(IMHO) and I now reckon its how it should be! (cost of work about 4-500 quid I guess)

Polmarch, so you've not yet bought the car? The classic-shape scoobs are less refined, but more fun to drive. Just stick a decat exhaust on it and get an EcuTek remap, and you'll be around 280bhp
Get some decent brakes while you're at it.
You can pick up a very nice UK00 car for £12k.
Richard.
