NFU Insurance
#1
I've had a couple of e-mails asking for tel. no.s and contacts. So I thought I'd put it here too. I've recommended the NFU to a number of people and most go with them. I've got two cars with them and one guy at work has just insured 4 cars with them, and one of these was a BMW M-coupe. So the NFU are obviously doing something right.
Karen Schalbetter at the NFU is happy to receive calls from anyone but they tend to be more competitive for us over 25's!! Ask for Karen by name, she's really nice and very helpful. Tel no, is 01604-883726
Most of the thanks should go to Phil @ Westaways, Spratton as it was him that pointed me to the NFU in the first place.

FWIW . . .
I insured with NFU last July & they were the most competitive (not by a lot against a known good 'un like say OPI).
Good customer service.
Unfortunately had to claim but experience was very good & bodyshop owner was pleased it was NFU as they are better than most at paying out!

If you can't speak to Karen, also try Chris Newman. Top bloke, who was happy to spend some time explaining all the idiosyncrasies of motor insurance.
They seem to be more competitive with the over 30's rather than over 25's though.
Curtious and very helpful company; and no, I'm not on commision before you ask
Definteley worth a recommendation,
Stefan

They definately insure imports.
They would'nt insure me. I think the like 'older' people who are less of a risk!
Plus multiple - and I mean multiple driving convictions dont help
I was happy to insure the import at £1430 (protected, full no claims, 28)through Supercar insurance - Bennets Elite came a close second

All,
For those of you who don't know Steve - his import looks like this:
(a special edition model for low flying)

Just spoken to Karen @ NFU who asked me to clarify some points regarding their insurance.
They WILL insure European imports but not Japanese imports. Basically it boils down to the fact that the European spec cars can be serviced / repaired / parts sourced by official dealers whereas it can be difficult with a Japanese spec model.
NFU have an arrangement with Tracker whereby you will get a discount on the initial cost of the Tracker through NFU. Insurance premium discount for Tracker, RAC TrackStar / TrackBak and others is 15%
Most modifications are also OK @ NFU
As it turned out, their quote to me was not competitive but Karen said that they are giving more benefit to over 30's than over 25's at the moment.
Hope this helps, and Karen @ NFU is extremely helpful.
Dave.

Very interesting but they insure my STi5 (definitely an import 'cos the handbook is in Japanese!!!).
Obviously the bit about parts is rubbish as we all know (Mercedes parts are MUCH harder to get - I know!!!)

You have a hand book - how did you get hold of this - I never got one.
My girlfriend can translate Nippon, so we'd understand it!
Are you going at the end of March? - another Huddersfield Possy!

Just like to agree with Steve...
Karen is a top bunny & very helpful
She is completely "wowed" by all the comments posted about her on the BBS!
Managed to insure both my turbos for less than I am paying for one
In addition to this, they have a much more sensible & practical outlook to providing insurance, such as reasonable excess's & low interest for monthly payments

Found paperwork when I got home tonight.
Looking through, found that "in the course of your/spouse's business" was covered as well
Usually "to/from your place of work" excluding "for business".
"For business" = Extra Loading
Even better Value For Money
Also saw that being NFU, they work out of an office on some farm in N'hants! Do they help with the harvest?
