Andrew, all the ignition, fuelling, boost maps are identical between the ECUs. The only things I gather are different are the physical label (AG340 vs AF040 on STI 5), electronic label (AG340 vs AF040 again), and increased knock sensor sensitivity. Ecutek have not decoded ALL the maps in the ECUs yet, but all the ones of significance apart from the above are the same. Not a remap, just changed knock sensor sensitivity, plus Broquets in the fuel tank AFAIK. IMHO this combination makes them safer on UK fuel. However, like all Subarus, they do have a habit of blowing up now and again

Question

Hi all!

I've got the P1 now, and oh, what a car!!!

One question is, my P1 has the 112 Mph speed limiter. Is this correct as it's a UK car?

And the most important question, how do I get rid of it? It's no use having a 112 mph limit flying around Goodwood!

Can this be done by the main dealer, or is it a "back of the car mag" thing?

Cheers!

You sure its not an STI 5 type R instead? Its the same thing as a P1 but better as its an import.

There is a Prodrive marked box in the wiring loom to the ECU (smaller than a matchbox) just below and to the right of the ECU under the metal kickplate. If you speed is limited to 112mph it has failed/disconnected, or you don't have a real P1.

Sounds like u have an sti5/6 (jap import) if uve got a speed limited. The P1 doesnt have a limiter and they generally tend to run out of steam around 160mph.

I read somewhere that UK Turbo's (old shape) are limited to 147mph. This is exactly what I got on the speedo when I tried a top speed run (on track of course).

Simon.

John,

Your comment about the 'Prodrive marked box' is a little disconcerting, I would have though that Prodrive would have removed/increased the speed limiter(s) when they remapped the P1 for UK fuel.

Hmm!

It's got no diff control. and it definitely has ABS.

It was main dealer supplied to 1 owner and the same dealer has now sold the car to me, so I would be very surprised if it was not the genuine article?

Are there any other P1 owners out there who have had this problem?

Ta!

No idea m8, but why don't you phone IM (Subaru UK) with your chassis number and they would tell you if it's regsitered as an original P1.

Ta!,

Been on the dealer who has confirmed that this is odd. It seems that Prodrive failed to de-limit my car when doing the conversion. It's definitely a UK P1 though, that side has all been checked.

The dealership will be getting back to me.

The other possibility is that the previous owner has been playing with the ECU/electronics. Would this be possible?

Err, if you were fiddling with the ECU, would you add a speed limiter?
