I have two Win 98 machines, each with an identical Realtek PCI card installed. Identical drivers, registry etc but one won't bind the TCP/IP to the card, the other will. net effect is they won't talk to each other.

any suggestions gratefully received!

Try disconnecting the card, then reconnect & reinstall the driver. Worked for me

Ping 127.0.0.1 which will tell you if the IP layer is stuffed or not

thanks - have swapped and reinstalled the cards, no joy. will ping tonight and check the IP settings (again)

could it be because one's an older motherboard (a 4 year old Dell with a Pentium II on it)
