130w Headlamp bulb - Warning
#1
Yep, sorry this subject again....
Just like to say to any new owners NOT to get those 130w highbeam and 90w dip beam headlamp bulbs.
I brought my MY97 when it was a year old and up till now did not know ONE was fitted until it blew the other day. Took me about half an hour to remove the melted plug from the back of the bulb! (Lucky I didn't need a change of underwear and anew wiring loom)
So a big cheers to the previous owner who popped it in, but he must have realised this as the other one is a normal bulb?
So those of you with crap headlamps - don't risk it - get a set of Xenon bulbs instead, I will as it's a bit darker than I'm used to.
Jason (or TFQ)
TFG and TFW - how are you, and what size bulbs have you got? oooh err misses.

PIAA actually recommend the use of the EWC-1P bulb in the Impreza. (In preference of the H48 bulb which is too powerful apparently).
This is a 'Super White' bulb and has been extensively tested by Prodrive in Subaru Imprezas.
It is a H4 60/55 bulb giving the equivalent of a 110/100 bulb and is "Street Legal for all european countries"
They are £40.96 (+ VAT & P&P), and yes we (Scooby Mania) sell them.
Mike.

Are these similar to the BC2 SuperWhites from PIAA ? They also are supposed to put out the equivalent of more wattage than they draw. I've had these in for more than 6 months without any problems, and the improvement in lighting is amazing.

Mike is that £40 Each !!!! or for two (only slightly less !!! )
I had the same problem on my old Civic VTi. I popped 100W bulbs in after having to stop, get out and check the bulbs were actually still working!. A year later one blew, I came to replace it and had to very careful with heat damged and brittle socket at the back...

£40.96 per pair.
Not familiar with the BC2, I asked the tech guru at PIAA what was the best compromise without overloading wiring or melting anything and the EWC- 1P was the best, quoting Prodrive as having spent a lot of time & effort in reaching that conclusion.
