I've a MY00 Turbo and am starting the upgrade path

Starting small I thought I'd work on the brakes first and have a couple of questions...

Is it worth a simple swap of the brake fluid from the OEM 4.1 to 5.1 without changing the bake lines to braided? I've read that the brakes fade very quickly and, as I've got my first airfield day in it (open pit lane!), I don't want my fun cut short!

Where's the best place to source brake fluid at short notice?

Falkland Performance told me not to bother changing the OEM brake fluid when the car was new, but did put on Mintex 1155 which really do the job. Now it is 10 months old I am soon to get braided lines, new fluid and Black Diamond drilled discs.

I have not had the 1155 setup fading on pretty brisk road use yet, and the OEM discs have not warped yet, and look to be wearing well.

If you are going to change your brake lines then at the same time you may as well change over to 5.1 as you are going to go on the track. The problem with fluid being too old si that you may have moisture built up in it,and you may find that this will boil with hard use on the airfield - that's how I found out first time

The M1155 pads are excellent for track use, I have used them on my Cossy for a whole day at Goodwood and only half wore them - a set of EBC Redstuff lasted a morning!!

One other thing, from personal experience I would be wary of Black Diamond discs, but that's up to you,

Yeah I know I should have used Brake forum but I had my first airfield session the next day and wanted advice ASAP....

I swapped the fluid and left standard lines in place. After over 200 miles on the 'field I didn't have any problems with the brakes. However, on the drive back there was a whining noise from offside front. My guess is that it's the brake pad wear indicator. I'll get the rims off later and check.

Now I need to find some nice new pads....
