I did this twice, once on the WRX, and once on the STi - and it fitted perfectly both times...to tell the truth I'm sure there is no difference at all between the STi and WRX airboxes...nearer the turbo the STi might have a larger diameter pipe, but definitely not at the airbox.

Be sure to reset your ecu after fitting...

Question

I am posting for a friend. he has just picked up his STI7 on Friday
and wants to upgrade the induction, the dealership said that it is not worth upgrading because its forced induction.

Has anyone upgraded induction to K&N, blitz...etc?

I had an MRT induction on my WRX which I moved to my STi...Although the kit worked perfectly on the WRX, the STi didn't respond well to it at all - it felt laggy, and seemed to loose some vigour...I took it off as soon as I could.

I was told by a few peeps that even fitting an ITG filter has detremental affect on performance so the OEM one is better

Lee,
I Should have said.... Has a detremental effect on your MAF sensor and no gains in performance unlike the V5 version which improved preformance but still ***** you MAF(sometimes)

Ray, I was the first guy here to have one of those - imported it last year December. It fits in the guard, and works perfectly with the WRX...but it just didn't "gel" with the STi...I sold it, but would actually have loved having it now that I have a delta dash, to see if it was running lean or what...

I think with a remap it will work like a charm, though...

Thanks Bruce , would love to meet you at Darrens then sometime and compare notes . Like I said they on the way . I think your pipe may have been 75mm , the Sti 7 maf housing is 90mm .. perhaps ...

Hi Bruce,

We have spoken about this before I have been running a MRT pod on my STi7 for a few months, must confess not totally happy with it. Have tried the car with and without. I believe the car feels stronger with the pod when driven hard but the pod definately confuses the MAF sensor under moderate driving.
