Cusco strut brace problem

Has anyone bought a cusco strut brace to fit their sti 7, cause i've just bought one and there doesn't seem to be enough space in the bonnet to fit it, but it does say its for GDA/GDB, just wondering if the dimensions of the jap spec is different to the UK spec as the strut was ordered from Japan thanks for any help.
