Have a 2.0 Ltr Sport. 1997.
When accelerating and changing up through the gears;
the response to accelerator from 2k rpm to 2.5k rpm is almost
non-existant. I hit the 2.5k and off we go, if revs fall below 2.5k
in next gear, same thing.
Makes not much difference when warmed up.
If i change gears with revs above the 2.5k threshold, no probs.
????????????????????
No misfiring, engine sounds good otherwise; just doesnt feed the power in.
Idle is good, no erratic rpm's, makes no difference wet or dry.
Fuel pump ??
Injectors ??
ECU ??

I think no-one has a clue 'cos it's not a turbo
Something wrong with a NA car? Can't be... there must be a turbo in there somewhere
For those of us with a turbo (ordinary TD04 sort ), 2-2.5k would be the beginnings of spool-up - and that's the problem. A bad response in this case would most likely be from running lean... but the rules for NA cars are rather different! Seeming there's no turbo to be spooling up, umm, no idea - sorry

Have you checked the obvious things like the condition and gaps of the plugs, state of the air filter, HT leads, etc....

Chris.

Sorted itself, think a valve was sticking.
Is it otherwise known as the butterfly valve ?
