MHI turbos & BOVs

Do the MHI ones need the BOV? Or will they run happily (and reliably!) without one? I had a bash - initially accidentaly 
- without one at the weekend & rather preferred the 'driving experience' (
). I'm now tempted - if there's no damage - to leave it that way.
