Point of interest either of the "std" pumps can be found in almost any MY car at random, the smaller std item defo delivers more than the larger one, just be sure and use the oem filter not the supplied replacement.

The reason the car is less hesitant is that the uprated pump richens the fuel map generally btw, hopefully its not too rich at the top end.

Right Big thankyou to David for fitting my Fuel Pump tonight, he will proably post soem pictures about it as there is a difference between mine, his, and the uprated one. I will leave that for david to comment.

For fitting follow Pavlos pictures posted earlier.

Performance, i may be imagining things, but it does feel alot smoother and able to respond better once up the rev range.

Like i say i could be imagining it but the car does not seem to sound as stretched as before when you put your foort down in 5th from say 3k rpm and let it go to *cough* 5k rpm. There was no hesitation in it doing this, and no judder(knock???(waiting for knock link)).

Tried to get a new M3 to play, wasn't having any of it though, so cruised until tit in new 318 undertook me

Conclusion: Impressed so far after 50 miles. Heard alot of people go on about these, and how good they are, well so far so good.

got to say... after being in the pub for an hour... and then fitting it... mine is bigger.. was awkward to fit... as pipes are in different places...

Anyway steven must be mad as I put his car in the garage, dont know who was more worried about the wheels... him or me...

Anyway pics tomorrow... my 2nd curry should be here!

Steven,

mine was a lot freer and smoother once I got over one bar - pump was clearly far superior as map was compensating for lack of fuel at this boost level.

Definately a good buy.

Fuzz,

No website link for Mark, he is just a fellow enthusiast who is able to get the odd bits & pieces cheap

I cant remember how much mine was exactly from him, but it wasnt much at all!

Mail him if you have any questions & he's very helpfull.

Chris

p.s. good mod to do as well!

I second what P20SPD said. I've also ordered one of these off Mark.

Cheers,

IIRC the price is about £130 delivered - substantially better value than other sources

Dont know wether it is me but i did not have the usual hesitation/surge between 2500 and 3000 rpm this morning, or yesterday come to think of it

Could the fuel pump have cured it? Will monitor.

Just have to say WORTH EVERY PENNY

It was quite a hot day today, especially around 1 o clock in Leeds. Was not expecting much, but the car seemed to just pull and pull. Now it could be just me but i would say the pump helps the tek2 mapping i have. The pump must have been working its nuts off before.

I dont know why, cause i am not that technical, but it just seems so much smoother reving, which is nice

Top is uprated..
Middle is MY94 UK Std
Bottom is MY00 UK Std

Wiring just plugged in on the MY00.. No Soldering needed, unlike the 94, and legacys..

One thing i have definately noticed is that i have not had any hesitattion between 2500 and 3000 rpm, when leaving home in the morning, you know the usual sort.

Just wonder if this has possibly cured it?

5 mornings and not present, always did it before in the same place.

To Bob Rawle,
I have just got one of these pumps from Mark, why do you say its better to use the original filter rather than the replacement one?

I also have one of the pumps, the recommendation is largely a result of one user, having surge problems with the "new" filter.

If you compare the two, you will see the old one sits lower in the tank, and is of generally better quality.

I think a few of us had surges with the new filter - the pickup looks far too high in the tank so not surprising - I did the original fit in the dark so did not notice (damn I must get a garage ). I had surge out of the Knockhill hairpin on 2/3 tank and anyone will tell you I am not a high g lad After I swapped the filters back no problems at all.

Yup most people suffered, the replacement is smaller and sits higher in the tank, the original should fit in its place and then will collect the dregs so to speak.
