Anyone fitted one of these to the above ? If so how loud was the vent ? 1.Subtle 2.Enough 3.RS Turbo ???? Were any spool-up differences noted after fitting ? Satisfaction score ???
(Didn't want to go for the common Forge item)
Thanks

Hi Ewan

We've fitted one to our STI UK a few weeks ago.

The dump valve is a twin vent design which recirculates at low boost and vents to atmoshere at higher boost pressures. Ive currently tried a few of the bigger brands of DVs and found the spool up time to be better with the APS although I never bothered to time these findings!

I also found the twin vent design to work better than a normal VTA as I was experiencing strange idling with the others.

Sound wise - It gives a pleasing but subtle "pssh" at higher boost when it is venting to atmoshere, which is the way I like it.

Ewan, I think it is fair to point out two things in case you weren't aware:-
1) Jamie is one of the UK stockists of APS, so you could argue he has a bit of a vested interest, BUT
2) Jamie stocks a number of other dump valves, so will be speaking from a position of more experience than most people, certainly me included.

Jamie, please take no offence as none is intended. With my (very limited) knowledge, I am very impressed with all the APS kit and am considering paying you a visit for a full exhaust for my (euro import) MY02 when my warranty runs out.

No offence taken Phil!

I am actually acting as the UK's distributor and stockist but I don't hide this, you only have to look at my banner to see.

But you are very right in bringing this to Ewans' attention, the reason I didn't, being that I answered it in a non-commercial way rather than an "if you want one come and see me" way.
