Hi guys,

Just replaced my full exhuast turbo back (DownPipe, centre, back box) with a full scooby sport system. I also replaced the restrictor with the one Pepe from SS sent.

Sounds incredible

Ran her for a bit off boost then decided to give her a little punch. Felt slower ! Did not feel that kick when the turbo is suppossed to kick in....maybe becuase the delivery is better due to added low down grunt from down pipe and no silencors etc ???

When I stopped I popped the hood and noticed that there was smoke coming from under the heat sheild Could this be just the gasket breaking in or something else or is this my turbo smoking ???

Please try and help as I am scared out of my mind right now

Cheers,
Ray

i fitted a ss exhaust to a my97, felt slower but i put it down to the lack of punch due to the boost coming in earlier, fitted the same system to my p1, didnt get the same prob

Razor, you will find that the smoke is happening because you have handled the downpipe with dirty hands and it is burning off, the other reason could be that the downpipe is not sealed 100% and the smoke is the exhaust fumes leaking (can you hear it blowing??)... I would bet money that it is because you have handled the downpipe with dirty hands as mine did the same.. the smoke should dissapear after it has all burned off....
Wouldnt worry.

Forgot to add that the system will change the power delivery and make it feel more progressive rather than punchy....

Starting to calm down.....thx guys

I think it may just be the dirt on the downpipe and heat sheild as my hands were pretty covered with grease and so were the mechanics

I am hoping the power delivery is just smoother hence the lack of 'kick' 4,200 rpms. From what I can tell it does pull better from lower down....less bog.....

I mean I did everything I was suppossed to, all new gaskets except the one that can be reused between two centre sections, changed restrictor, cut and replaced heat sheild....and all hoses etc went back perfectly to intercooler....I need to get a boost gauge just to give me 100% peice of mind.....right now I am worried that I am crazy overboosting and my turbo is getting so hot it is frying and smoking...paranoid ???

Cheers guys
