Default Rattle noise at idle / new clutch and flywheel

I have had a new competition clutch kit and 6.9 kg flywheel fitted. New diff and gear box oils. 2003 Sti uk

I have now done 800 miles and the initial clutch judder has gone and the clutch feels factory and the car drives perfect.

However since day one the car has a rattle coming from the clutch/flywheel area when the car is idling with the air con on. Only does it when the compressor initially goes on - then stops again.

Then when I turn the ignition off the car makes the same rattle for a second.

This is the noise it makes when ignition turned off.

No noise with clutch pedal full pressed

I have read similar things on forums but yet to find any response with a potential answer.

I hope you guys may be able to help me.

The kit was fitted at a Porsche specialists that fully rebuild cars from the ground up to an incredible standard and their work is excellent. However they have no idea what it is and seem to think that it is just a very noisy clutch / flywheel kit due to the reduced mass of flywheel.

They are obviously not wanting to have to remove the gearbox again!.

Thank you all in advance

Adrian

Not keen on CC have removed a few. Anyway that is happening on the final compression stroke and have heard it many times and the lightweight flywheel extenuates it. I personally think its poorly made clutch plates and the springs/centre rattling on the last stroke. In theory if you have the clutch pressed the plate and gearbox internals aren't turning. Also check your gear linkage above and below.

Thank you for that info - why would you think it makes the same noise when the air con starts?

Also can I ask why would the gear linkage cause this?

Regards
