This is my first post here so hi to everyone.

So, my friend recently got his WRX STI VA, and we have quite a problem with it.
It's 6 speed, manual, with DCCD and all the good stuff. We have issue when selecting gears, to be precise it's about 5th, 6th and reverse. To select reverse as far as I understand you have to lift up this ring on the gear ****, however in our case we have to lift it to select 5th and 6th gear, while reverse is going in without lifting it at all.
What's wrong with it?
Where to look at?

I have myself GC8 WRX JDM 5 speed and I had to replace all the bushings in the gear selector so I know "something" about that stuff, but I don't have "lifting mechanism" in mine.

There may be some mods installed, but we haven't checked it yet.

 

Reverse lifting mechanism is just a cable pull on the side of the gearbox
