Default Bad misfire suddenly P0302 $10 2005 Legacy

Hello there,

2005 Legacy 138 bhp

Running okay around town and short runs on 95 Standard fuel for 8 years. Drove 300 miles to North Wales so filled up with Shell 99 super, another 200 miles around mountains, filled up again with Esso 99 super and another 300 miles. Although engine only designed for 95 RON I like to think the 99 is better for cleaning and long runs and all was well. After 800 miles of A roads and motorway, I came off motorway 5 miles from home and engine misfired badly but no error codes.
Misfire has continued around town with four new NGK plugs. Old plugs looked brown/grey and dry, new gaps were confirmed to be 1.1mm.
Subaru specialists recommended filling up with 95 again, so 2/3 of tank added to remaining 99 super but no change after 20 miles.
Eventually got code pointing to intermittent misfire on cylinder 2 but no dash warning . P0302 $10.
If I remove HT lead from coil-pack and let it arc ( not sure how wise this is!) misfire goes away. If I push lead firmly back into coil misfire reappears immediately.
So I will order new set of leads, but any other suggestions please.

Thanks

Swap the leads around if the misfire moves that's a good start , if the coil pack is not too much £££ worth changing too , very unlikely fuel up grade will effect a car in that way

Thnks Vxr2010, I agree.
I moved lead from No2 to No4 and now have P0304 code.

I cannot find any coilpacks in Plymouth today and NOBODY lists Ignition leads so I have to buy everything on internet.
There are so many makes and, apart from NGK and Lucas, I have never heard of them. Is there a manufacturer people recommend or avoid?

I am tempted to try these people, but they are closed all weekend.

My wife needs the car running again so have bitten the bullet and ordered Lucas leads from eBay for £30. Hopefully arrive Tuesday.

Cheers

Just a branded name , import car parts are good or Alan at As performance plus quick shipping from him 👍 but swap leads around first and just double check it is a lead

I moved lead from No2 to No4 and now have P0304 code instead of P0302

Sorry did not read the above , it's looking hopefully as just leads , so the as performance or import car parts sounds the way forward 👍
