Question JDM exhaust on UK car? (newage)

Hi all,

so if I want to fit a JDM catback exhaust system to a 2005 STI Type UK, what's involved?
Are the hanger positions the same?
If I'm not mistaken the JDM down pipes have different length to the UK ones, so it's not a straight fit.
Would it be possible to modify a UK downpipe (lengthen/shorten) to join up with the JDM catback system?

Cheers!

Thanks, yeah the downpipe is of course different. I was wondering how hard it would be to fit a jdm back box and centre pipe to a UK car with a UK downpipe. I only know that they're different lenghts..

some UK systems comes with different lenghts to,milltek, jetex
You could have more luck with back boxes less with centre pipes
Should not be to hard if it's to long ,one cut one weld but from my experience it's hard to find proper welder

Yeah, I'd be looking at getting a JDM one piece system (back box and mid pipe) and then modify a UK downpipe to match. Anyone done this? I just don't want to buy stuff and then find out it's a complete mess to make it fit.

That will be most difficult way if it's not simply flange cut .You need cut a UK neck and weld jdm back(doubt You will have correct lenght and angles that way) than cut again to match centre pipe.
I have milltek downpipe and centre with hks silent power back box. My welder cut silent power pipe and extended it,looks good when bolted together but it leaks within few days. Not sure do it again or make new pipe for my new jetex backbox.

Depends on the catback and for which revision it is.

I have an HKS super turbo which comes from a JDM bugeye. Mid pipe is longer so i had to buy a JDM length downpipe (from Hayward and scott) to fit.

From what I found regarding downpipes:
- JDM and UK/EU classic are same length
- JDM Bugeye (single scroll, rev A / B) = Classic DP length. They also don't have the second catalyzer in the lower part.
- JDM Blobeye (twin scroll, rev C / D) = Length ?? (don't fit single scroll turbo obviously)
- JDM Blobeye / Hawkeye (twin scroll rev E / F / G) = from what I gathered they should be UK/EU newage length (to be confirmed).

All JDM aftermarket DP (HKS for example) show different reference between rev C/D and E/F/G and I don't know what is different ...

Blob JDM twinscroll is basically same length / cat-back fitment as GC8 whereas the later Hawk JDM twinscroll mimics the UK / EU cars length wise

Different bends for offset rear pipe and tighter bend at base of cat to mimic subaru cat to second pipe joint
C/D

E/F/G
