Default When refuelling the trigger keeps clicking/shutting off

I've just bought my first impreza, its a JDM STI hawkeye. When i refuel it the trigger keeps clicking off every few seconds (the thing that normally only happens when the tank is full) - any ideas? The only way around it is to refuel extremely slowly but that then means i have no idea when the tank is actually full.

Restriction in the filler neck? Have you tried pulling the nozzle a bit rather than pushing it right in?

Some have a flap so you have to put it half way in.

Is this the inner flap, or the outer door flap? It's important to know which flap we are talking about

If it can't reach the inner flap your nozzle is too short.
