Turnining over but not starting
Bought a classic Impreza Thursday on the bay and everything was going fine, drove it 140miles back home with no issues got home showed the mrs took my young lad round the block then came back to take the mrs round the block got about 1/2 mile away and the engine died while doing about 30mph in third on a housing estate and now won’t restart
we have taken the plugs out and there is a spark we have also taken the fuel pipe off and there is fuel. At the moment it’s looking very sad just parked up any advice would be grateful
its a 98 classic WRS that came direct from Prodrive with all the goodies on it

It tries to start but doesn’t quite catch to start it enough, the codes have come back with MAFS, Knock sensor and temperature sender. We’ve cleared all the codes and it tries more than before but looks like I need to start replacing these bits one at a time till it runs

If it's turning over you've got spark and fuel its not an immobiliser issue. Check the belt and timing. Plus the three codes you mentioned sound like a wiring problem.

In theory if is a wiring fault as in open circuit yes especially if it's turning over. Check the timing it may of slipped, but if you keep turning it over you may do damage you could possibly have a couple of stripped teeth or a faulty tensioner.
Is it worth risking using Easystart? Especially as it's trying to start.
Are the plugs wet.... where did you check for petrol getting through?... Output of the filter?
(just a few random thoughts....)

Had thought of the easy start, think that’s the next step.we took the outlet pipe off the filter, jet of fuel when the pump primes then squirts after when trying to start, we did notice that nothing was going back down what we think is the return pipe.
Does anyone know anyone around the Derby area that specialises in these that I could trailer it to, I’m not far from scooby clinic at chesterfield, does anyone on here use them?
If it's the L555 one, then it had a recent cambelt kit fitted (sellers description) so would be not too hard to remove timing cover* to quickly check timing hasn't slipped..... OK, got to remove pulley 1st!, but saying that, IF timing was slightly out, it would/should still fire.... right?
Are plugs wet, indicating that fuel IS getting into cylinders.
*on my MY2000 the cover bolts were badly corroded and difficult to remove.

Good news scooby clinic have sorted it, the problem was the fuel pump was working but not enough pressure, new updated fuel pump fitted and it’s back up and running, they have also fitted a new gearbox speed sensor which was needed and a new knock sensor which came up as a fault, picking it back up tomorrow and hopefully will be at scooby fest a week on Sunday in it🤞
