I really hate aftermarket radios, so I bought myself the OEM C124(Clarion) head unit, which can read MP3 and has an AUX, but for some reason, the sound from this unit is really odd, it is so bass heavy, that even on the lowest(-6) setting, it is still bass heavy. I have the 2006 STI and on the normal CD changer unit(P-133), the sound was really good, but with this one, it's pretty terrible. Maybe the unit that I've purchased has some damage or something. If anyone, who has the C124 head unit from the factory, could you please share your VIN(in private message), so I can compare the speakers, maybe for the C124 unit came with different speakers? If the speakers are not different, than I guess, the P-133 unit from Matsu****a is superior to the C124 Clarion(below are the pictures of both head units). Would really appreciate the help p-133(Matsu****a) c124(Clarion)
It would appear that the P133 unit (Subaru P/N 86201FE210) was used exclusively in the USA for model years 2004/2006 and then for Central and South American (Destination code K4) models in 2006/7
The C124 unit (Subaru p/n 86201FE250) replaced the P133 in the US for 2007
So probably not much info on these units here in the UK. Maybe ask your question on NASIOC ??
In the US
speakers were predominantly used and then changed to Fosters for the final year
