Default hatch no cruise control

Hi all

I have recently picked up a 2009 Impreza diesel
my second scooby I had a wrx hatch about year ago

anyway...…..my cruise control wont work when I turn the ignition on all the lights come and go like they should

if I press cruise it will not light up or activate at all

if I hold down one of the buttons when I turn the ignition on it disables and cruise flashes till I hold the button own again when I turn the ignition back on.
I have no engine lights I have no error codes no other stability lights on at all
but it does have a tow bar fitted
also I noticed a wire with a 15amp fuse from the positive terminal on the battery goes to the passenger rear light area ( I haven't taken the rear light off yet to see where it actually goes

any ideas where to start?
or how to check clutch switch ect

many thanks

Depending upon which type of code reader you are using, you won't get any cruise related codes as they are only for engine fault diagnosis.
You would probably need to get the codes read using the full suite of Subaru Select Monitor (SSM) diagnostics.

Maybe a blown fuse??
Attached are a couple of diagnostic checks, a list of the cancel codes plus check indicator and combimeter self diagnostics and the wiring diagrams

The Hatch has a 10 pole trailer connector located under the left side rear lower trim (R79) below
