Question

Hi, I am looking to get Air-con fitted to my Turbo MY00 in the next few weeks, however there is a few things that i am unsure about.

How much will it cost me?.

Does it have much effect on fuel consumption.

Is it just Air-con or climate control as well?.

Does it have any other benefits other than keeping the car cool (ie in the winter).

Is it any good?.

Cheers

PS Never had Air-con before so any help would be appreciated.

My local dealer quoted £900 for genuine Subaru air con for MY98. Haven't had it done yet - I like to listen to the exhaust to much, hence have the windows down anyway!!!

And it will use more fuel.

Cool

I think it costs currently £995 or it was when I had it fitted to my MY00 last year.
It will have a small effect on fuel consumption but who's worried about 1 mpg when you're nice and cool.
It is just air con not climate control and the fan has to be on for it to work.
The other large benefit is when its wet and the car mists especially in the winter, it very quickly demists all the windows, you can even have it on with heater set to warm.
One point is that you do need to use it even in the winter as it keeps the coolant pressurised. If you don't use it at least once a month then it will probably stop working.
Is it worth it, Well I'm on my 3rd scooby and its the first extra that gets fitted every time.
Stay cool

Don't worry about the cost of it or the extra fuel you use(not much more than normal). Because I think it's well worth it and any car I would have next has to have it.
