I'd like to put a PC680 into our hillclimb Blob but I'm a bit worried it will be constantly flat. It could sit for up to a week without use, and I've just fitted some Prosport gauges which I know like to put a bit of drain on batteries too.

The weight saving is significant and has me really wanting one. I plan to buy one of those power bank type jump starters but I'm worried that having to do that often with the battery draining in between, will kill it quickly.

Am I right to be worried?

 

They do tend to go flat quickly if not used regularly. Fit an Evo/micra battery with correct size terminals

 

That weight saving is nothing in the grand sceme of a full weight blob eye. I wouldn't bother, not worth the hassle

 

Cheers guys. It's a good 7kg saving though? Combined with lightweight front seats and possibly little things like a Spec C crash bar, that sort of thing going forward, could add up?

What's the Evo battery type number? How much less do they weigh? Will it suffer from struggling to start the car after a week etc. being a smaller battery?

 

If its a hillclimb car does it not have a battery isolator cut out switch ?

 

Paul I'm pretty sure it's a road car, presumably the OP will run it in road going production so doubt it has a cut off switch

Think it's b31 Evo battery but will need pencil to normal battery adaptors for the Subaru fitting, I think the spec c battery is similar b19 iiirc

Looks similar to the Yuasa but half the price. Looked up Micra batteries, the one I've linked says Jap Posts next to it. The Micra battery came back on that site as an 063 and it said Std Posts next to that.

You need standard posts, jap posts are slimmer. But you can but spacer adaptors for them or 'some' battery's are interchangeable

B19 Varta. It's pretty powerful at 400CCA, 45AH, I found the weight listed at 11.43kg. Saves 4-5kg and isn't too expensive.
