Default Four new tyres

Hi all,

Need four tyres four my widetrack sti, question.. are toyos proxy really that bad? I can get a set of four in 225 45 17 for a smidge over £200

Other options are kuhmo ku39's, (got these on our 325d) would like some eagle f1's/ MPS but I'm not doing track days so would be a waste really, a medium tyre will suit my needs.

Anything else I should be looking at? Car has falkens on there at the mo which look pretty good?

I've just had 4 of these fitted to my hawkeye sti, in 225/40/18.

have to say i'm really impressed with them, they've just replaced some Eagle F1 Assy 2's and for me there's not a lot in it, wet or dry.

Just one thing to note, the Avons have zero kerb protection if that's something that would bother you, the shoulders are really rounded, not great for feedback but as said they do grip really well.

I found Uniroyal Rainsport 3 really good in the dry & fantastic in the wet. There's so much standing water thanks to the crappy road surfaces and blocked drains that wet performance is paramount for me.

vredsteins are same price as f1's so i'd pic the f1's out of those two, the ku39 is a good tyre and with a full alignment might keep the mrs happy on £££ front!

I've had both, the vredsteins are a quieter tyre which I like. Both are very good road tyres though

Used to have Toyo Proxies T1Rs on my classic, recently gone for a set of Continental Sport Contact 5s . . .the grip is awesome and in the wet they perform so well at moving stationary water . . . Just my 2ps worth . .

Why not have a look at Falken 452's or 453's... I don't think they make the 452's anymore but they're a decent all weather tyre and not too pricy... Problem with Toyo's is they're crap in the wet on a Newage... sidewalls are too soft too.... Falkens have quite a stiff side wall... which is what you want to be looking for in your tyre choice.

Hi, I've put a set of RS 3's on my wifes Mazda 6, and they're far better than the old Pirelli Cinturato's that were on it, I'm most impressed with them and they're a serious contender for my Blob when it comes to changing them in April.

Can I ask if you're noticing any kind of excessive or quicker wear than others you've had in the past?.

Cheers.
