Should i go for Antilag ???
hope this forum can help, I've had my Scooby 7 wonderful years and have always wanted pops and bangs antilag, the car has been mapped and has a couple of mods I'm happy with the BHP and don't want more just the noise basically, I do very little driving around 1000 a year and would never use launch control it would be purely for noise and showing off really. so was just after your opinions and for people who have it fitted, also how much damage am I causing to the car if its used rarely in a car park for example.

Just get a decent exhaust if you want some noise,H&S have just brought out a group N replica,sounds very nice on the cars I've heard it on(GC8s)
I've got ALS but as above I just don't use it.
Up to you tho,each to their own and all that,if your not fully decatted then it will kill the cat pretty quick.

Just have it put on a switch if u really want it, then u can use it whenever u please. Bear in mind u need to move your lambda from uppipe to the exhaust side of turbo too as anti lag will soon blow it apart. Last thing u want is ur turbo sucking up ur lambda probe
yes I've had that mapped in but car doesn't run as nice, and not to drive, I will look into the exhaust side of things as this could be a safer alternative and if not then cross this bridge again later, yes this is what I would like a switch so I only need to use it as and when
Its awsome as an anti tailgate device, If anybody sits too close a quick flick of the switch and they soon drop right back

I've got it on a switch too. As people have said, it's just a gimmick. It doesn't have any performance benefit as it isn't "real" anti-lag. Quite amusing in a car park though, but horrible to drive with.
Toying with having pops and bangs mapped in but have heard it takes away your engine breaking is this true???
I do use engine breaking a lot as it's a habit from my trucking days and don't think I can ever get out of it lol

pops and bangs mapped in won't do anything, its just a bit of extra fuel in the over run. Very different to antilag
Andrew Carr couldn't do anti-lag on my FSTI as it runs one of the 1st drive by wire ECU's with early software. However he managed to map in pops and bangs by over fuelling on 5% throttle only above 3krpm and it's great. I can drive the car sedately every day and around town but can induce a nice pop or bang (or succession of them) when required. Simples.
Has anyone actually got any first hand evidence that the very mild anti lag that can be mapped in actually causes any major issues? I can appreciate rally car antilag is so aggressive that this would cause issues but as they rebuild turbos every couple of events they dont care.
I mean proper first hand experience not someone cousins brother once told you down the pub it blew his turbo etc etc.

But if you don't want to believe what your being told then crack on and we'll happily say we told you so when your asking about engine builds
I say get the ALS! be satisfied if that's what u want after 7 years of ownership I think u should just go for it! and then in the end if **** goes wrong u will have a good reason for engine rebuild lol
If you want it then i would say get it. After all if you do get it and don't like it then just don't use it. I have had it on mine for almost a year now with no ill affects so far.
One thing i would recommend though, is having it on a switch somewhere as it can be quite annoying during winter months having not having use of the rear window de-mister, as i have found out the last couple of months
