Does somebody have an Oil catch tank installed on their MY '99?
Is it really that useful as some manufacturers (e.g. GReddy, Cusco) describe it?
Somebody have pictures of how and where you have it installed?

Any suggestions welcome, I was mainly thinking to kep my engine bay clean, as this item is supposed to do this...

Thanks,
Ramon

Cool

Not sure how it will keep your engine bay clean!

Your oil breathers return into the Induction system and so oil vapour and droplets are ingested back into the engine.

I have on fitted - the main problem is finding somewhere to put it.

It reduces oil in the intake - especially with higher boost levels - which is good for keeping the boost solenoid clean if nothing else.

The downside is crankcase fumes coming back into the car as my catch tank has a breathable cap!

Hi Trout,

what make do you have in your car? I would have a good deal to get a GReddy Universal Oil catch tank, but I don't know what hose size I need 9mm or 12mm... What size are you using and where did you fit the tank? Do you have a picture eventually you could post here?

What would be the problem with these crank fumes going back in the car? Is there like a smell inside the cockpit?

Thanks,
Ramon

I will have a pic later today - but don't know how to host it - happy to send to someone for host - but after the ENGERLAND win on penalties!!!

Mine was mounted inside the wing where the resonator was. It is now on the bulkhead where the TMIC was.

I fitted a MOCAL with 12mm pipes.

I have a Cusco one, fits very neatly just in front of the battery (had to move the horn), teed both breather pipes into it and then fed the "exhaust" down to sump level with a small K & N crank breather filter on it, no smells and no oil in the intercoooler or pipework.

Oil vapour entering the engine can contribute to det as it degrades the ron rating of the fuel, no fumes less det.

Daft thing was that I changed to Motul 300V competition oil at the same time and since then I have had next to no vapour in any case.

Bob,

yeah - the Mocal catch tank comes with a breathable cap - seemed like a good idea at the time - but stuck at traffic lights the underbonnet area is filled with smell!

Agree about Motul tho - huge difference.
