Saw on here a few days ago, where someone had fitted the sti nozzles to the bonnet scoop.

Well i bought 2 today & want to fit them, can you please tell me the dimensions for where you drilled the holes?????

Its a my94 slanted ic (incase yours had the straight intercooler)

Any help greatly appreciated.

 

Mine ended up drilled and cut a bit and then glued in position. But I am crap with a drill

They are the genuine article as fitted to the STI UK & my local subaru dealer ordered them from Prodrive for me.
Ordered them last friday, came today, £7.89 each + vat
pt no. 86636FA120
Apparently the sti uk's only use 1, but im gonna use 2, the wetter the better!!!
They have a very wide spray angle, hence only 1 fitted, but surely 2 has got to be better i think.

I dont have a blooby subaru dealer that near me, about 30 miles away..!!

But 2 sounds good to me thats what im going for..... ive already got 2 holes on the scoop from my old washer jets i used..

The idea is to atomise the water and cool the passing air.Soaking the i/c will help cool it but what are you wetting underneath when it drips through?Any electrics etc?

 

The starter motor is underneath, but think about when its raining & youre travelling on the motorway etc. I bet it gets soaked!!!!

 

I made my own kit up a couple of years ago for my gtir and could only have it on for about 20 secs before it started filling the sparkplug holes up.Stopped using it,funnily enough.

 

I thought you were attaching a watering can to the bonnet !!!

It was to technical for him to fit the watering can, He couldn't get the inertia setting correct, When he accelerated all it did was clean the front grill !!

 

ideally the spray should be so fine that the water merely evaporates off the fins of the intercooler, taking the heat away as it does so.

change of state from liquid to vapour requires energy to break the bonds, this comes from the heat in the fins which comes from the air from the turbo, simple really.

 

Funnily enough, waterspray is a standard Subaru fitment on the special edition models type R's etc. & is exactly the same set up as we are replicating.
So if you think about it, the water dripping obviously isnt a problem.

edited to say - & were never going to have to worry about the spark plug holes filling up, unless we end up in a lake.
