Default Fuel filter

Hi guys and girls,

Getting my 70,000 mile service done next weekend.

Question is, is it worth changing the fuel filter ? If so, does anyone recommend one or where I can get one from ?.

Cheers

If you have no history of it, then yes.

Regardless, it's probably the cheapest service item for a Subaru anyway (sump washer aside lol), so defo do it.

Import Car Parts:

Or order one from your local Subaru dealer... Or pop down there and order over the counter, if near enough.

Er, why do you need the sump washer? They are two separate, 'unrelated' items lol

But I'm guessing you want to do an oil change, too; i.e. perform a mini service?

So, no, it won't come with one. However, they're pennies:

To change the fuel filter:

The fuel filter has one inlet (from tank/pump) and one outlet (to fuel rails). In the engine bay, on the nearside, near to the bulkhead, you'll see the large 'cup'-like, black fuel filter: loosen off the two fuel hoses' clamps and replace the old filter with the new one. There should be an embossed arrow on the filter casing (IIRC, on one of the ports), indicating the direction of fuel flow - so you know which port is the inlet and which is the outlet.

try and disable fuel pump or stop car from starting as you crank it so the fuel system is de
pressurised first or it will go every where , import car parts are good for parts , i always buy black oil filters from them and other parts , worth doing oil change too

Thanks for the advice dude.

An oil change is definitely getting done and I'm coming round to the idea of a fuel pump change now aswell.

i agree with above , it's worth a fuel pressure test but nothing to say it will or would need doing the pump that is

I thought that a change in fuel pump is only needed with an increase in bhp bud ?

they do age , some times they go , i have never changed one over the last 12 years and about 7 subarus , i pressure check mine every so often to make sure they are producing enough pressure , i've also never changed one due to just an exhaust and remap as when ever the maps been done the fuel pressure was fine
