Hi,

I've got a spare exhaust rear section with CAT from a MY01.

Anyone got any ideas how to remove the CAT leaving a stealth straight-thru pipe ?

Alternatively - anyone want to swap it for a straight-thru pipe ?

Cheers

Chris

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?

Cut it out and weld it up... if your near leeds Ill do it for free for you... Assuming you find a bit of tube to replace it with...

David,

Thanks for the offer - but too far from Leeds - you've given me an idea though...

Cheers

David,

I'm surprised you just didn't tell him to bring over some scaffolding poles and you'd fabricate a new one

Hope your not letting your bodging standards slip

Having never seen the inside of a catalytic converter - would a power hose be powerful enough to blow the stuff out do you think?

Or perhaps one of the drill things for unblocking drains ?

I've removed a cat on a old car of mine, by taking off the centre section, basically smashing the ceramic internals out, basically a cat is a honeycomb (toxic) with pieces of gold in it, using a similar size pole straight thru took a while but once it's started to break up then it will start to come out a lot easier, may be worth doing it on a spare piece of pipe tho.

If you can get a long masonary drill ( a big 20mm dia preferably)you can easily drill most of it out. As the previous post states, once broken up the rest comes out quite easily followed by the steel retainer (in 2 parts).

Don't breath the stuff in, wear a mask and do it out side.

If you do just the centre section you probably won't notice an increase in noise. There isn't much gain in performance either until you do the same to the DP (but that's a bit trickyer to do...).
