Hey this the harness behind my headlights, one for dipped and other for high beams, the cars a bugeye wrx so am I right in thinking its been modified for sti lights

It's been modified, yes, those look like cheap Morette knock-offs, they often are not e-marked, and, unless someone has done some mods, only one pair of lights comes on at any time.

 

That's correct when the dipped beams are on and the high beams are switched on the dipped beams go off will it take much to put back to stock, I have the stock bugeye lights

 

Could it be as simple as just making all 4 wires into one socket then fitting a 9007 bulb or does that sound silly lol :P

 

This is how they are now.





Would this change it back to the original 9007 bulb. Any help appreciated

 

Let me get this straight.
are you wanting to go back to the standard bugeye lights?

AFAIK, they use an H4...and it LOOKS like that harness above is plugged into the female H4 connector. It could be as simple as that.

 

Yes that's correct I'm wanting to go back to the stock bugeye lights.

 

Ive read the bugeye use a 9007 fitment, is that different to the h4

 

my bug was H4 fitment on the standard bulbs, US cars are different so don't look up their stats.

See where those wires go back into the car from your bulb harness, as pointed out above it looks like an h4 fitting there, I would guess your wiring bits will just unplug from that leaving you the standard h4 harness to plug into your standard lights.

Just give the three wires coming out of it to your bulb harness a little tug they will pop right out unless some spaz has soldered them in.

Ahhhh I get you. I'm off to buy the h4 bulbs now. I was confused thinking the harness was the stock loom but had been altered, I now have removed the harness and will plug the bulb straight in. Your a star 👍

Well I'm a happy chap, there up and running 👍 it can go for its retest now because it failed on the beam pattern because the bulb housing on the morettes were snapped off haha

Haha,who wants the glory for this question if yous no it, any idea what setting the adjuster *** inside the car has to be on for m.o.t

 

Should be on zero.

The headlights should be aligned so that the zero setting, or the lowest number, produces a proper alignment and level when set.

Then, as you load the rear, the headlights can be brought DOWN using the control.

There is NO reason to bring them up.

I like to align mine properly at 1 - that way if I'm on a dark country road with noone about I can tip them up a little higher to try and get more distance from them.

 

Get some driving lights:



Mine with Morettes, 60% uprated outers, standard inners.








And with the Hella 1000FF driving lights lit, same camera settings, hence slightly over exposed at the front.

Maybe a bit cheesy looking, but the dual H1 bulbs have a perfect spread/beam pattern and they go far more distance than my standard headlights ever could - without even sticking a dodgy hid kit in them. Would recommend them for anyone with a bug who doesn't mind a non-standard looking headlight.

I could definitely be tempted for a set of the hella driving lamps though - are yours installed in the standard fog location or did you add them on ?

 

Installed where the fogs were. They are 35W and equivalent to 300W halogen, with an excellent beam pattern.

You can easily make brackets for some, mine are the genuine HIDs, but the halogen ones work almost as well with an HID kit, being single filament.
