Default Blob stereo, Awful....

Hi Guys

Got a UK blobeye last night but the stereo is awful, it's horrible to use and the speakers are busted so the sound is lame.

What Facia have you guys used to install an aftermarket stereo?

What size are the standard speakers to save me taking off the door cards to measure?

Also any pics of your aftermarket stereos will be great

Thanks

You don't need a fascia a double din stereo fits the hole as long as it's not xtrons or any other ebay crap

like you ive just got a uk blobeye wrx and ive had the same issue.

Ive just fitted a new pioneer double din headunit, and sounds so much better - just needed an ISO lead that i got off ebay for £3 delivered.

Didnt require a fascia for it, i fyou go single din then you will need one.

If Subaru stay true, the standard speakers are 13cm.

In mine (classic) I have Sony 3-way 165mm ones in the front, they fit with spacers. I made my own from 18mm mdf, cut out with a jigsaw, I used the sony template for the inside and the existing speaker mount for the outside. The painted thickly with three coats of emulsion against damp, they have been OK so far.
The rears can take 6x9's mine are, again, Sony 3-way, fitted from above with the same mdf spacers, lozenge shaped, themselves covered in grey ICE cloth to match the rear shelf. They bolt through using M5 x 50mm stainless caphead Allen screws and nyloc nuts with washers underneath.

You CAN mount from underneath, but it's a clat getting them right, drilling etc etc.

Try that first. I chose Sony speakers in a blind test at Halfords with my then 13 year old lad helping, I just liked the sound better than the others

Change speakers first, then headunit if needed.

I now also have an Alpine underseat active sub, it fits half under the passenger seat in the rear, held down with velcro, can easily be removed by undoing two plugs and pulling it free if I NEED the space.

HTH.

Drop rear speakers idea, better put money for 2 way amplifier, double dins are ok for a look but most of them have crap quality parts inside , 480x600 ****e screens which seats to low in a blob.

Yes a proper music junky who enjoys music, listens to endless hours of youtube, cover tracks etc etc but unfortunately is half deaf.

So I cant tell the quality that well, have to turn my hearing aid off when I turn it up and the quality is more than good enough for me.

It's what makes you happy in the end. Our ears tend to be very subjective...what suits others may not suit you.
Go with what YOU like.
I always tell folk that when they ask, "What speakers..............?"
