would you.....
stop driving when you reach a certain age and know you can't drive safely? the reason i ask this is that i think there are many drivers (mostly the elderly) who drive very dangerously, today a guy pulled out infront of me without looking which made me swerve on to the kerb and totally damage my alloy, he didn't even realise what he'd done so he claimed, and this was me just going about 15-20 mph. VERY DANGEROUS! he then drove on as normal for a further 20 minutes of me flashing and using the horn to ask him to pull over...he finally did and the old driver in a C REG honda accord was i'm sure waiting for me to get out then drive off...
Anyway my girlfriend got out to chat to the old bugger, and said he's sorry and never saw us, kept on saying sorry, and said he was looking for someone and that he didn't realise what he'd done. My gf then asked him for his licence or insurance details in which he replied "Sorry luv' i can't help you" then drove off. I followed him still and eventually turned off to report this to police.
I know my own strengths so when the the time comes i will stop myself from driving. The alloy is totally naffed now, and i think bent! and i think the whole balancing of the steering and bearing is knocked out!
What do you think?

Totally agree with you.
I reckon this country (UK) should start some type of scheme which mirrors the States where you are retested or summat after a certain age, and even then compulsary "retire" folk from driving at an age.
I remember tailing an old codger who drove like he was drunk, kerbing the car and swaying about. I called the Police and tailed him for a bit before I turned towards my destination. It was then I saw the guy was as old as the hills and probably had been re-animated from some experiment.
I'm 30 and hopefully I'll recognise my limits in the future too before I take out someone.

i'm sure the guy was a nice bloke back in the days, but this kind of behaviour must stop on the roads, i am patient on the roads with old people though sometimes i see the occasional ones that deserve to be off the road!
I think when you get to that age you are very stubborn and think you know best about everything despite being completely out of touch with the modern world - so if I get that old I don't suppose I would surrender my license.
