Default Turbo Advice

Hi,

I think my turbo is on the way out, I am hearing a slight metal grinding sound when ease off and it's slowly but surely getting worse.
I have a MY00 and it's running the original TD04 turbo having done 143K, which is a long life. I see that the later models are running TD04L's and other variants of the same turbo. Are these interchangeable and will I require a remap?

Help appreciated.

Cheers

Pete

yes they are interchangable or you can get your old one rebuilt if it's not too far gone.

Any idea how much to repair the existing turbo? Is this something that you can do yourself or is it a specialist job? and any recommendations would be greatly received.

There is plenty of TD04 units around for as little as £60-70
