Now looking at purchasing a panel filter for my wrx as the next part to tick off on my 'modifying to do' list

Question, do I go cosworth or k&n...reading alot of conflicting threads on the net with pro's and cons for both i.e. k&n being an oil filter so not so great for engine etc etc and foam filters like the cosworth let particles into the engine etc

What is the best recommendation?

P.s. can someone remind me the spark plugs for modified impreza's....PF...something??

I put a cosworth filter in my 2001 wrx. Throttle response and it pulled so much better, you can hear induction noise a bit better too how ever it was just a cheap uni part one in from previous owner

That was on a standard car part of a routine service too. I got it really cheap though.

I had a k and n panel on a pervious car and made no difference what so ever and tbh the cleaning of it was a pain. I've read that the oil nature of these filters don't sit well with sensitive MAF sensors on imprezas, ive also read that genuine subaru filters are very good too

 

Cosworth the better option then?

 

Yeah deffo. It's a bit dear for what it is really but when it's time to replace I'll replace it with the same.

You say that but scoobyworld are selling them for £35 compared to green at £40 and k&n and £45

Personally, i'd go K&N or Green. You'll only really benefit from a filter change after a map and as mentioned before, NGK PFR7B and make sure the gaps are set properly.

 

Are green and cosworth not identical :s

Cosworth is a dry filter, K&N and Green are oiled. At the end of the day it's personal preference really.

 

Went with cosworth in the end, can't see any reason why it would cause issues so will give it a try and move onto green next year
