I'm after some ideas as to what's going on with my coolant.

The car is a 20005 blob eye wrx 2.0 turbo with Omega forged pistons, RCM H section con rods, Nitride crank and ACL Race main & end bearings, RCM uprated oil pump, ARP 11mm head studs and steel head gasket, Exedy pink sports clutch, Hayward and Scott sports cat, 3" stainless exhaust and decat up pipe.

Since owning the car I have topped the coolant up a few times yet it always seems to use water but never goes below the low line it's never over heated no loss of power and starts first time from cold but harder to start from hot.

The only other issue is idling when the car is warmed up and sat in traffic the revs slowly creep up but if I put the air con on or Rev the car slightly it returns to around 1100 where it sits which is normal for this car since the remap ect.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Never goes below what line? top up via metal cap, the plastic tank is an overflow.

 

On the overflow there is is a low line. Sorry I'm not use to the flat 4 engine.

 

you might just have a small leak.

I had a pin hole leak in my rad and it only spat water out after a giving it some..

if you do your own work and you have trouble tracking it you can get a radiator dye. I never used it but the option there ..

 

I do my own work where I can otherwise I take it in. I thought the same but I just find it strange that the expansion tank never drops below the low line I have removed the rad cap ect on warm up to ensure no air locks which is all fine.

I might just bite the bullet and drop it in the garage.

 

depending on how long ago the re-build was. if you're going to use a garage I would get them to do a quick/cheap sniff test just to rule out H.G failure

 

Sorry, but this is a myth.

It might remove airlocks, it probably won't.

If it's airlocked, the only sure way is to drain and refill properly. Do a search on here for how to without airlocking.
