Measuring Air Temps with a Water Temp gauge
Anyone know for sure if a Defi Water Temp gauge (temp range 20-120degC) can be used to measure air temperature?
I've heard that it might not be possible, but I thought that the temp probe was a simple thermocouple (ie its a resistance-temperature linear variation-type concept). If this is the case, it should not make a difference if it is in water or air.
Any experiences? Tks.

You could always walk around your kitchen and put the probe in the open oven door or freezer in the air and see what happens? The K-type thermocouple I use stabilises in about 1 second.
Yeah, I'll prob end up doing that. Trouble is, I have to buy the darn thing first! Was hoping that someone had tried it before. Also, hard to get a 12V power supply in the kitchen. I'm choosing the Defi so that I can daisy chain it up to the rest of the gauges already installed (oil press, oil temp and boost).
I wanted to do something similar with my defi water temp gauge. I was going to put a switch in so that it could read water temp or oil temp (possibly do the same for the oil pressure / fuel pressure)
The mail reason for doing this is there is not enough room for all the gauges.
Any thoughts?
