Default Spreadsheet to give you the correct shims to use when doing valve clearances

Hi All,

I have made a spreadsheet to work out what shims you need to replace your existing shims when doing valve clearances. It assumes you're competent enough to do all the steps taken to measure the current shims and the gaps.

This spreadsheet is for a V4 STI with under bucket shims with 0.20mm inlet clearance and 0.25mm exhaust clearance.

How to use the spreadsheet:

If your valve clearances are different than above, type the correct clearances into the 'Required Factory Clearance' field

You will need to measure your current shims and type the thickness of each shim into the 'Current Shim' field.

Measure your current valve clearance and type it into the 'Current Clearance' field and hey presto the shim thickness required will pop into the 'Shim Required' field.

This is supplied in good faith and I take no responsibility for any engine damage that may occur after using this.

As I have no idea how to add the spreadsheet to this thread, if you send me a PM with your email I will send it across to you.

Have fun!

If any one is struggling to find the correct shims for their cars, I have a surface grinder,
and as long as your existing shims are too thick I can grind them to the correct thickness. Give me a shout if I can help.
