Default low boost

hi guys

my 2005 2.0L wrx is only making 6psi boost, i tried an old m.b.c valve i had kicking about and it boosts up spot on, does this suggest the stock boost control module is knackered

Is the other valve you put on manual . Standard 6psi is fine if it hasn't been mapped to run more boot .

Yes it does sound like the current unit is faulty, you could try cleaning it, and then test again off the car with a 12v supply.
Don't think a new one is hugely expensive, about 100quid

ive swapped out the boost control unit for another one and its the same, 6psi boost, i put the my manual type control valve back on and it boosts up perfect,
what is the standard boost pressure supposed to be ? its a (2005 2.0 wrx 225)
i dont like running the manual control valve as its unreliably inaccurate.thanks for looking
