When fitting the SS Downpipe, how much of the heat shield needs to be cut. If the downpipe is lagged do you really need the heat shield?

Cheers

Hi Ed

If you hold the heatshield so that you are looking at the back face, you need to cut from the top of the arch in a line that goes across and down just missing the rear bolt hole, to the corner. Then cut straight down the corner to the bottom.

Its important to refit this shield, as the turbo glows red hot under full throttle.

Lagging the downpipe is down to personal choice. It will reduce noise levels, but isn't needed to protect from radiant heat. If you do lag it, stop about 150mm before the bottom bend or the wrap will get soaked in road water/grime and may smell when hot.
