New clutch choice ATS Blade Clutch Vs ACT HDSS
I will be getting a new clutch soon for my 2007 STI running about 470 ft/lbs. It currently has an Exedy Pink Box but that isn't quite coping. Not planning on doing many drag starts or track days, mainly road use. I really need something that is easy to live with and not juddery/smelly/noisey/too heavy, I reverse up a hill into my driveway so some decent modulation will help. Basically something as close to standard as possible but works up to 500 ft/lbs
After some research I have settled on either an ATS Blade Clutch or ACT HDSS and need some input on what they are like in a Scooby. I will probably change the flywheel to the matching ATS or ACT one at the same time for reliability and performance. I would prefer a full weight (18.9 lbs?) flywheel but will live with a slightly lighter (~15lbs) one if its higher quality.
The clutches are rated by the manufacturers at -
ACT SB10-HDSS 515 ft/lbs

ATS Blade Clutch 500 ft/lbs

I have discounted twin plates on usability and price and the fact they are usually rated way beyond the 500 ft/lbs that I need. Any opinions from people that have used either of the above two clutches ?

Competition Clutch drives nicely and will handle that power. These have been proving very popular and fill the gap nicely between a Exedy Pink and Exedy Twin: http://aztecperformance.com/clutches...7-6-speed.html

If it's for a sprint car I would fit a Competition Clutch sprung paddle clutch. Same price (£342), more positive engagement than an organic clutch and will take much more power and abuse.

How would something like this drive day to day? What's the pedal feel like?
Thanks

You would need to make that judgement call, for me I would fit the paddle. It's sprung so retains many road manners, expect a slightly heavier peddle and getting used to the on/off nature in stop/start traffic. Out on the open road, sprints and tracks it has the advantage of more positive engagement.
They are made for people who track their cars but also like to retain some road manners.
