Default slipping clutch

I have been out for the day and on the return journey I noticed the clutch slipping whilst accelerating in 5th gear on the motorway. Could anybody recommend any garages in the greater Manchester for a replacement. I am based in Wigan so any local recommendations would be appreciated. I own a gb270 and I am also thinking is this the ideal opportunity to upgrade from the standard eom clutch ? thoughts please

Perfect time for an upgrade especially if your looking to squeeze a few more ponies out of your engine in the future,Exedy pink box clutch I would go for, can't help with the tuners I'm afraid wrong side of the country for me,but Alyn of ASPERFORMANCE I would recommend for the purchase of the clutch or bob of Aztec.SJ.

Have a look on his site for prices, fitting I can't really help you there best to phone around your local recommended Subaru specialist for your area.dont forget to budget for a light skim if your flywheel needs it or if you can afford it treat yourself to a lightened flywheel.SJ.http://www.superhids.co.uk/clutches-...der-230mm.html

I can recommend this guy based in Lower Darwen, which is around half hour from Wigan.

Expect around £150-£175 for labour costs, plus clutch cost. Brian will point you in the right direction for a clutch too as he regularly buys ACT clutches, probably the best single plate clutch on the market.

500 quid for a pink box and lightened flywheel, sounds pretty reasonable. can anybody advise how much I would expect to pay for fitting?

Probably around 8 Subaru's to date for me, not just clutches, but all sorts, standard cars driven in to 430bhp driven out 2 days later. He looked after and advised me on all my cars. He also works on many other members on here, to name a few from the LADS forum Gaz, Dave, John, Henry, Andy... List is endless.

Tell him you know me if that helps

I'd also ask him about clutch options and ask if has any in stock? he's a Subaru Specialist mechanic so he knows his stuff. Take a wad of cash though, as I'll guarantee he will be the cheapest on clutch installation, but you'll end up driving into an Aladdin Cave and your eyes will light up, the temptation is always there when I land over

Rob

Ps check out his new project, classic "other" marque Subaru

Personally no, I'm a stippler for sticking to something that's already good. I might have been there for a RR day once, can't recall if that was the place or not.

hey Rob, bad news on this one, noticed an oil leak today coming from gearbox/front diff, not sure where it is coming from so gonna give cams a ring in the morning. Given the number of small dots on the driveway I would say it's been leaking since shortly after the replacement clutch fitted, Hope it's nothing serious.

gonna give him a ring tomorrow, do any ideas what it could be? I was thinking maybe it's just a gasket or sump plug? not sure what fluids if any he would of had to drain/ replenish whilst replacing clutch.

Could be a perished seal, needs looking at ASAP as it could be in the box which could contaminate the friction plate. Probably something minor though
