It's not that simple but no.
The engine is different, the rev limit on a WRX is lower, Diff ratio's are different 4.444 - 1 vs 3.900 - 1, ECU setting and I think the turbo's are different as well.

 

its a TY752VB3BA gearbox and mine is a TY752VB3FA im sure they both run a 4.1 rear diff

 

But what about the engine, ECU set up ?

its a sti v2 engine the ecu is a esl board

 

The V2 STi only came as an RA.
A WRX with a daughter board fitted and you want to run a RA box, on an STi engine?

It would still have different gear ratios than the car is set up for. The ESL would need remapping, the redline is higher but it's your car and you can do what you want.

I think you would be better off just sticking with a modded WRX.

Just reading your question.. I have a 93 WRX RA which was fitted with the TY752vb3ba box. It has VERY low ratios and I think you will get fed up with it on the road. There is only about a 1000rpm drop between gear changes and it will drive you mad on any kind of motorway journey. 70mph in fifth is 4000rpm.....and loads of gear changing !! initial acceleration with this box is brutal... but it runs out of gears so quick especially if your running 320bhp like mine.

When 1st gear gave up i fitted a vb3fa box and prefer it for all round use. I mainly compete in sprint events and use it on the road.

Im gonna repair the RA box and stick a standard 0.825 ratio WRX fifth gear in it to get the best of both worlds...

I don't see why you would need to remap if you change gear ratios, nor why the redline makes any difference (you would simply reach the redline at a lower speed).

I run the same ratios and I love them...perfect for blasting around the countryside with no turbo lag whatsoever. Albeit my car is not a daily driver and never sees a motorway.

 

the car is about 305bhp I wanted to try a run a 12 on the 1/4 mile would the ra box help with this

 

And another 40-50 hp was running a type-r with 310 and short ratio just missing out of 12's on the pod.....
And was running a paddle clutch so could launch at full power...

So there's a few bits for the list

You'll most likely kill the box quickly. The TY752VB3BA is not a strong box.

And an organic might take a few launches.... but will be 50/50 what goes first

And don't forget to get rid of the four wheel squat.... coilovers set hard can reduce this

You want a longer ratio'd box on the drag strip, it cuts down on gear changes which cost time.

When I did race, I was crossing the line in 4th, not quite on the limiter at over 100mph. Mine is/was only 330bhp, 289 lb/ft.
