Some extracts:

[New] performance dampers from Yamaha Motors and STI was jointly developed, [with] linearity improvement of handling from the immediate turn-in, it is possible to suppress the phenomenon of swing-back, such as a lane change.

Reinforced coil spring and inverted struts for suppressing role, lowering [by] about 15mm and body posture for driving performance improvement, travel limit is increased.

Change of rear stabilizer diameter.

Pillow ball bushing rear suspension links aims to increase lateral stiffness and reduced friction, enhancing the contact to a road surface of the rear tire.

In addition, aluminum wheels also adopted 18 inches 8.5JBBS spoke forged wheels only. In combination with the light wheel, as compared with 17 inches unit is a standard of the base model, thereby achieving weight reduction of about 1.5kg per one.

We adopted a brake rotor of the outer ventilation type [using an alternative form of attachment]. This suppresses knock back and the vibration behavior of the rotor.

Adopting a large diameter twin scroll turbo dedicated design (ball bearings) as used in the S203 with changed shape and number of the turbine blades.

The air duct hoses for introducing compressed air to the intercooler from the turbo charger is a new silicon rubber with high heat resistance. So as to improve the intake efficiency by suppressing the deformation of the hose under high load, and the straight shape.

New catalyst material that improves the exhaust efficiency and reduce air flow resistance of the catalyst body.

In order to equalize the weight of the piston, the connecting rod, it is weighed and selected manually. The re-weighed amount of crank balance made crankshaft is adjusted, finished by hand. Thus, we obtain a pleasant smooth engine rotation, thereby achieving improved durability of the high-load operation to be continuous.

Because of the linearity of ground improvement by loading up of rear tires at high speeds, the rear spoiler of the new design was mounted in the trunk rear end as much as possible while the low position the wing surface. The synergistic effect of the rear diffuser generates a downforce at high speeds and contribute to the traction of the rear wheels.

Dry carbon fiber lightweight bucket seat jointly developed with Recaro Germany. It was molded in an autoclave process similar to that of the motor sport dedicated sheet such as WRC, carbon shell, lightweight and high rigidity and high strength.

The entire floor of the cockpit adopts a [new floor carpet]. Reduces operating noise, such as transmission and road noise transmitted from the road surface. It is a weight gain of 3kg in total weight, but giving priority to improving texture to give a premium feel.

I think the whole concept of the s204 was a well rounded comfortable fast road car.
Not many special parts other than the seats but its a very rare numbered model.
Having seen the car.its also the condition of it that's amazing too.

Yea it looks a stunner in the pics Dan, was just genuinely intrigued in what bits it got over the likes of a Spec C or STI of the same era. Its obviously a very rare car and appears very well sought after by enthusiasts but just wondered if it was just an STI with some different badges and fancy seats.

I think the suspension was the key, in particular the dampers were pretty special being mounted in a way (as I understand it) that was different to every other Impreza.

The S204 focuses on quality, where as a Spec-C focuses on weight saving. It is the best product Subaru could make, with everything improved a fraction over a standard STI.

And in answer to your question, that list is the translation of the japanese website, so should be what the S204 gets over a standard JDM-STI, which as we all know gets different stuff from the UK STI. Not really comparrable to the Spec C as that got lots of weight saving changes such as smaller fuel tanks and no boot linings etc.

S204 is no ordinary car the spec sheet alone only gives you an idea of how special this car is. Until you drive one you will !never know how good an S204 is.

The only other comparison I can think of is the M3 CSL.

ha ha you know I know as well !

I'd love it, if I had a spare 21K lying around over any STi. Apart from an RA-R of course.

All he has to do is change the drivers seat and stick the original in the garage, also a good thing as it will reduce wear.

Think you should get the mods to change your username Mark, to Slim Fud!!!
