Look guys, "name and shame" is a regular cry and the OP has said until he gets further down the road he's not going to say. I don't doubt for one minute, having spoken to the OP, that there is a problem with quality and so on. BUT trial by internet is never going to help.
Let it run through and if, IF, the repairer has an explanation, let him come on and give it. Behaving like the News of the World reporters fishing about trying to guess out who it was, is probably going to get an innocent party a whole lot of bad press unnecessarily.

I imagine he was looking for sensible advice about what to do and how to go about it. Instead he inadvertently started a witch hunt. Which having spoken to him, I don't think he expected or wanted. Respect him for that. If he gets nowhere and is treated poorly, then l would expect that he may let on what has been going on. Or not - as the case may be.
As for the "name and shame gang" , go about it a different way. If you think that you want to use someone as your tuner of choice, ask on here for recommendations. Don't go tittle-tattling about the guys that have let someone down [ maybe only once ] There are quite often 2 sides to every story [ probably not so in this case ] but at least let the parties try to settle their differences.

Feel for you mate and i hope you get it sorted but if i was chasing them big numbers i.e over 500bhp and up i would choose a better starting block that will take that power easy and reliably all day every day.
Supra or rb26 skyline.

Ov course the 2 JZ is a great platform. , throw 20k at it & reach for the big 1
But were talking EJ here , & plenty are running high figures ....
We can all throw Money into our engines ,
Ultimately , how it performs is all about the build .
Wich is why were at this thread !

Add 20 grand to the cost of a Skyline or Supra and you could buy a decent Porsche and be done with it.................

Well yea , realistically how many people build 999 supra's
On the Porsche tip , anyone interested can pick up a nice 996 targa for sub 20k
Not as much BHP as mentioned on this thread , roughly 336
But a beautifully planted road car , with great dynamics .
Come to think of it ( why did I sell mine ) ha ha

Information on who carried out the work is all available if you look deep enough, it's not for me to divulge but can be common knowledge if you use your heads
OP I really hope it gets resolved and you end up with the car you wanted to start with

Naming and shaming is a big mistake trust me, you may have had a bad experience but the chances are 95-99% of their other customers are very happy, and will jump on you.
I've used most Subaru specialists in the North now and I'd be lying if I said even 1 of the multiple mods/fixes went 100% smoothly.

You must be gutted Gooner....clearly all your fault :/
Thing with naming and shaming is a lot people will be happy with that tuner as the other thread shows. There is a mapper on here that I know ALOT of people have had issues with including myself but there are plenty that blow his trumpet publicly ....... sometimes people just don't want to hear their beloved tuner is a sour one, however unfortunate that may be!

I really like Matt at TRL but a few of his staff seemed to be a bit lax at times.

It seems to me that gooner tried to cut some corners and the tuner didn't advise him better. Its like my mum says to me and my bro your as bad as each other.I would like to add that if you think its o.k to say good things about tuners on open threads then like wise you should be able to say bad things. It doesn't sound fair to me if they are subject to only good press and not bad.In some cases good recommendations can be misleading.I can also add that I think all recommendations should be on a one to one basis.

if noone highlights bad work then others can be subject to the same heartache
if kept factual then there is no reason not to highlight bad service
the good tuners tbh rarely seem to have an issue
point in case
show me one bad roger clark post
or enginetuner
or api
ive yet to hear a detrimental story against any of these companies

Most specialists building EJ engines over 500bhp have had a few failures, even RCM has had a few...
All big power EJ builds should come with a government health/wallet warning sticker on them...
I don't think the OP is doing himself any favours by doing a trial by internet before discussing it / seeking a resolution with the specialist in question.
To even the debate here is the reply from the specialist in question from another forum:
I don't want to get into a debate on here but today is the first that I have heard of any of these problems. I value all of my customers as many of you know and if you have a problem then you can come to me to discuss and rectify.
The said car was with me for approx. 14 months however it is not as straight forward as has been stated. There were a number of reasons for the delay one major one being that the client wished to source his own cylinder heads which took him 5 months. I am proud of my time scales for engine build however I will not build an engine for a client without reasonable deposit as I have to outlay for the parts we are only a small company. On occasion I was told the said client didn't have the money to give me to pay for parts therefore the build was delayed.
As for the problem with the wheels coming loose yes wheel spacers were fitted but the said client had lost the required wheel nut key and I informed the client that I was not able to tighten the wheel nuts due to his error.
I find it unfortunate that the client feels he has to come on forums to air his problems without once approaching me.
In case client has lost my details they are as follows :-
mob:- number provided to OP (but removed from this post by me)
bus:-number provided to OP (but removed from this post by me)
email:-e-mail provided to OP (but removed from this post by me)
The client also knows where the business is based as I haven't moved premises so I am unsure as to why I haven't been informed or contacted in any form about any concerns.

dont recall ever seeing a bad rcm review really
same for api/enginetuner tbh
not saying who is right just its someones right to air their grievances
free speech should be allowed after all reasonable attempts to come to an ammicable solution have been exhausted

All engine builders have had a bad review in their time. Much like every single business on the planet.
Problem is 1 bad review seems to overwrite 100's of good ones, especially for small businesses.
I have no problem with genuine bad reviews, they should be left up for people to find. However, hasty bad reviews without speaking to the business in question can be very damaging for no reason.
Just my opinion.

i was going to say the same as some others i think you gone a bit to crazy with the power. its still only a small engine for so much power its bound to be unreliable and if it was not then i would say its luck, also when you purchase parts from different places they will always try the it could be the part you bought ect. sometimes chasing to many horses can cause too many problems.

When I first got the block it had done less than 4k . But yer ok so had that rebuilt. .. got the heads had them rebuilt .... then got some more heads and had them rebuilt ... iv do Hadley any mils and its ****ed again ... so regardless to what I started of with thae engine is know good .... this car has never seen a track its just a bit of fun was told the engine wld be good for well over 600hp ... there are ppl that on here that have same and more power and race then and they last longer than mine ...

Its the tuners responsibility to tell you if they are not able to do what you want or if the parts are not up to the job. These guys are the expert's thats why we go to them for there guidance which comes at a cost.I wouldn't expect anybody else to sell something that they don't think will work.I would expect a good tuner to turn you away if he throught it was a bad idea. Not to say this applies in this case but food for thought.
