I'm heading back out to the 'ring in May, it's a Green Hell Weekend.

I've done one Euro trip before, I'm yet to go over Stelvio pass though. Looks a good trip

I dare say I could struggle along in that Alfa 4C but would it even get as far as Magor before it broke down???

Just abit of an update regarding the costs for the trip :

Hotel cost per person £168 ( based on 2 sharing a room )
Fuel cost per car estimated £740
Ferry cost per car £74

Just need to consider the extra bits below

Breakdown cover
Spending money ( food, drink, tours )

Plus if we go on the 'ring we'll need extra insurance plus of course full European coverage as well.

Matt,

Don't forget I get a discount on the Ferry Tickets down to £64. Put everyone would have to come to my place and I will order them online.

That's a few beers or 10 litres .

As said I'd prefer to go through the tunnel. Ok it's 36 extra each but you'd save a good 6-8 hours over the two crossing. I've spent to much of life waiting in Que's for ferry. There's a train every 15 minutes and no rushing or waiting either

Look at it this way, you rush to get to the dock, your normally there an 1 -1.5 hours before it sails, and hour and half sailing, then if your unluckly another 30 minutes getting off. if the weather is rough or you arrive too late you have hours to wait for the next one or hang around until the ferry's start running again. times that by two crossing and that's plenty of wasted. Plus How many times have the french farmers/fishmen blockaded the ports??

Tunnel = 4 trains an hour and 25 minute crossing

It's no brainer

Dan,

I hear what your saying but the frogs blockade the Chunnel as well as the ferries. The cheapest I can get it down to is £53 each way and that's the red eye late night or the busy tea time slots.

I'll be getting some other options looked at as I want to start booking stuff soon.

To everyone who is going on this trip, i would say to make it to the next meet in March, we need to discuss the finer details of the trip and agree on a date to book the ferry and hotels.
